Valentines Day 2011

What can one do with an hour (while the baby sleeps)? How about make a quick Valentines Day video! We thought this would be kind of fun to do in honor of today! It is not our best work, but it was lots of fun to see all the fun pictures of the two of us goofing off. I have come to the conclusion that we goof off a lot!! Hope you have as much fun watching it as we did!

A few quick notes regarding the following video:
1) Keep in mind this was done in less then an HOUR, therefore, it isn't perfect!
2) It is set to music, but the music is messed up in the middle and not cropped well.
3) The pictures are NOT in chronological order
4) Some of the pictures are not the best quality.
5) It was done for fun and thrown together in a hurry!
6) Made with lots of love

Birthday Balloon

Charlotte loves her birthday balloon, she even came up with her very own game!

We played this game for a good 30 minutes! It was cute!

1000 Things Less

So, I wish we could take credit for this idea, but we can't. This idea actually came from a volleyball buddy of John's; we loved the idea so much we have decided to adopt it for ourselves!

Our goal, for the rest of the year, is to reduce the number of things in our home by 1000 items. We have noticed that our home is full of "stuff." Usually, "stuff" comes into the house with grand intentions, but after a while, those grand intentions simply turn into more and more stuff! We began thinking about our home and have decided that our home should be free of clutter and things that are truly not important. We want a home that is full of things that are special, meaningful and helpful.

Now, we are not totally crazy here, so there are a few RULES!

1) If something wants to live in our house, it must meet one or more of these criteria: Is it useful? Is it beautiful? Is it meaningful? (and even that does not guarantee residence)

2) Our goal is to reduce the stuff we have, not increase it. Keeping with that ethos, any items that comes into the home this year will count double against our 1,000 item goal; if a new sweater comes in, two items will need to go to offset.

3) Items intended for immediate use (toiletries, food, etc.) do not count. New items that cannot be used up have a two week grace period for before rule 2 is triggered.

4) If possible, we will donate, give away, or recycle the items rather then simply throw them away.

So, there you have it. We will keep you posted on our progress throughout the year! We are sure this will be a growing experience for us as we embark on this new adventure.

More Monkey Business

Charlotte got to spend a little time with her buddy West at Monkey Business ( a play gym for kids) We were working on the slide, still can't get her to go down by herself, she still needs moms hand! It was cute and she kept trying to climb back up and do it over and over again!

Birthday Video

All Dressed up to go out on the town!

We headed off to Monkey Business this past Friday to spend a few hours playing with Charlotte's buddy West. I have several short videos I will try and post soon from our time there, but here are a few quick pictures of little Miss Charlotte all dressed up to do out on the town! Was just too cute not to share!!

Birthday Girl

We had a small get together for Charlotte's birthday on Thursday. It was a lot of fun for the grown-ups, and Charlotte seemed to have a lot of fun as well!
Here are a few pictures from her first birthday!
We kicked off the evening with some pizza! Charlotte hasn't had pizza before, but I would say she liked it!Next came the cupcake! She LOVED it! She isn't smiling in these pictures, but it is only because her mouth is full of cupcake goodness!
Frosting!!Don't touch my cupcake...Mmmm good stuff! What a mess! Then came a few wonderful gifts! She knew just what to do (thanks to Christmas would be our best guess)
Charlotte got a new chair and blanket from Grandma and Grandpa, she loved it! She even sat in the chair for over 30 minutes without moving!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Charlotte! We still can't believe how fast this first year has gone by, but we can't wait to see how you change over the next year!
Love,
Mom and Dad
